In recent weeks I have had cause to deeply meditate before God on 'Standing Alone' and have been reminded of a chorus from my very early childhood ......
Dare to be a Daniel, Dare to stand alone; Dare to have a purpose firm And dare to make it known! Like Daniel, Jacob also had to learn how to 'Stand Alone .... Jacob was left alone. (Genesis 32:24 NKJV) Like Jacob, many of us know how it feels to be "left alone". When a loved one dies or a friend leaves, or you walk through the fire of separation and divorce, no matter how 'spiritual' you are it still hurts! Emotional pain is to the soul what physical pain is to the body; it tells you something's wrong; that you need God to guide you through the challenges and upheavals of realigning your life to cope with what has happened. And the struggle doesn't begin in earnest while you're surrounded by people, it starts when you've been left alone. The fact is you can survive without others, but you can't survive without God. That's why He sometimes strips away everything that makes us dependent on people. He sends certain individuals into your life to help build your faith and develop your character, and when they're gone, to leave you with the assurance that God's in control. The loss of loved ones (a) develops our Spiritual muscle; (b) tests our resilience; (c) shows us the scope of God's power. When Moses died and Joshua was left in charge, God told him, "As I was with Moses, so I will be with you" (Joshua 1:5). That's something Joshua could never have learned while Moses was in the picture. And it's a lesson we cannot learn while we are looking to other human beings for all the answers. In Mark 4:39 when Jesus "ordered the wind and waves to be quiet" the Bible says "everything was calm" (CEV). In the midst of the storm, ask Him to come and stand in the bow of your boat, and to speak peace to the things that are upsetting you. When your standing in the Lions Den - He is with you and the lions mouths will be shut! David Last edited by DJ : 03-27-2009 at 05:12 AM. |

Your great accuser, the Devil, is going about like a roaring lion to see whom he can devour (1 Peter 5:8)
My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions' mouths (Daniel 6:22) And having done all... stand. (Ephesians 6:13) Don't allow the conflict free seasons and the absence of satanic attacks in your life to lull you into a false sense of security: 'Be vigilant... the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour' (1Peter 5:8 NKJV). What should we do when the Devil comes and his agents come along? 'And having done all... stand.' Indeed, '... God is able to make [you] stand' (Romans 14:4), not in your own strength, but the strength of Jesus Christ. By yourself you're an easy target, but in the strength of the Lord you can stand and not give in. So today when satan shows up with his temptations, announce that you're going to stand in Christ. Let him know you're going to stand until the shaking stops, until the wave of loneliness passes, until your marriage is restored, until you come out of debt, until the struggle is over, until the tempter loses his power to trap or topple you. When you do the standing - God does the strengthening! Paul said, 'I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me' (Philippians 4:13). Note the word 'strengtheneth.' He won't just strengthen you once, He'll do it again and again. He'll strengthen you every time you face a difficult challenge, every time a memory comes back to torment you, every time someone reminds you of your past shortcomings and of your imperfect past, every time you face a difficult situation. Drawing from God the strength you need to stand up to the enemy and your accusers will take effort. It will take your praise, your prayer and getting into His Word with an intensity you never had before. But the truth is - you can stand if you want to! Dare to be a Daniel; Dare to stand alone? Amen David. Excellent post.. I have said for years now, the very words you wrote above. ONLY through the Lord will strength become your sucessor to stand alone. We all need to challenge each other and everyone to "dare to be Daniel and to stand alone ". The Lord is always right beside us. God is good. He is always good to those who love.

LOVE & HUGS Admin Bonnie ![]() LET US ALL COME TOGETHER AND GROW IN THE LORD! 1 Corinthians 9:19 - 23 (NIV) Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. ( 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
